Name: Julien Combeferre
Age/DOB: 15/March 14, 1998
Cabin: Six (Athena)
Demigod abilities: High intelligence and wisdom and the ability to weave, as comes standard. Superior tactical skills.

Personality: Julien wants to know everything, and that's not remotely an exaggeration. He will enthusiastically spend his time studying anything that passes his way with as indepth a study as he can possibly manage. War and tactics, history of every place imaginable, geography, biography, theology, animal and insects (even spiders, which he's always been uncomfortable with, given the whole Athena's-son thing), games, cultures.... The list goes on, and it never ends. Give him a book on it, a knowledgeable person willing to speak on the subject in front of him, or some hands-on way to find out more about something, and he will dive right in without prompting.

Even things that don't exist fascinate him, and he loves to study the potential progresses of science, the things that people are working on now. The future excites him as much as the past. It's not just concrete knowledge that fascinates him, although he certainly likes to know things for sure; it's potential knowledge, and personal knowledge. Somebody telling him about their own past will hold him as raptly as somebody telling him about the past of England, or of Catholicism, or of Capture the Flag.

Though he both loves and is skilled at fighting when training -- both the planning of, and the actual enacting of the plans -- Julien is, at heart, someone who loves peace. He would quite happily playfight and train with his friends, enhancing his skill, and weapons fascinate him, but he hates when he has to take up arms against an actual threat. Despite that, he doesn't hesitate when it comes to it, and he's very good -- particularly with guns or swords.

With people, Julien thrives as much as or, perhaps, more than with books. He's always happy to help, especially if that help is in the form of helping someone to understand something. He listens well, and when advice is needed, he's always careful to think over the situation thoroughly and, if he himself can't be of use, direct people to the best help he can find. He's good at balancing people, seeing what they need and, if not being that for them, connecting them with somebody who can be.

Julien is rational, cautious and serious, and sometimes he can be too solemn, even when it's not called for. When things are difficult in particular, he tries hard to think first, feel later. However, when things are well, he's excitable, prone to giving little facts about what's going on and easily lured into debates. He's friendly, if sometimes distractable. He's open-minded, but not really a man of faith: he'll consider just about anything, but he prefers facts to blind belief. The one thing he does believe in whole-heartedly is the ideal of the future, and even that isn't so much "this will come" as "what can we do to make this come".

History: Like all his half-siblings, Julien was born from a meeting of the minds between Athena and his mortal father, who is a fantastic tactician, and an author of non-fiction books about history and war. (Fiction books too, but the nonfiction is what caught Athena's attention.) They met while his father was travelling to promote his books, got along grandly, and Julien came along a few weeks later. His father has always known he was half-God, because of the unusual way Athena's children are born, but made the decision not to tell him until he was older.

As a child, Julien's life was fairly normal. His father married when he was a couple of years old; Julien took easily to his stepmother, perhaps due to his young age, and has always been close both to her and his younger half-sister, both of whom are completely mortal. Born in France, they moved to America when he was six, but they still occasionally go back and visit. His father compelled him to study history and war -- understandable to him, considering what his father wrote about -- and the language and history of Ancient Greece -- which he didn't understand as well, but found fascinating all the same.

He always did well in school, surprising his teachers, due to the diagnosis of dyslexia and ADHD; part of it was natural intelligence, and part of it was sheer stubbornness. He wasn't going to let his disabilities define him, and he especially wasn't going to let them make him seem less smart than he knew he was. His parents did whatever they could to help him, and educationally, Julien thrived. Despite this, troubles with his teachers persisted; never quite to the point of getting kicked out of school, but the problems presented themselves at two different schools (because of the family deciding to move from France to America, not because of anything he did), they took him out anyway and tried homeschooling.

At the age of ten, his father sat him down and told him about his mother. Though it surprised him, he got over it quickly enough... and just in time to discover that, now that he knew what he was, he was going to be monster-bait. That was the first time he met Athena, a couple of weeks after he managed to not get himself killed in an attack. It was decided that he should go to Camp Half-Blood, to be safe and be trained properly.

Julien has attended camp since age ten. Though he is technically a summer camper, being homeschooled on the outside, it's not unusual for him to show up a little earlier or stay a little later than most summer-only campers -- although, with his family's fondness for vacations back to France, sometimes he shows up a little later, too. He was there for the Second Olympian War and fought with his half-siblings, staying later than usual that year to try and help the camp in the aftermath.
